SCARABEO CAMP

Updated: Dec 19, 2018

Glamping experience in the Moroccan Stone dessert.

I am not going to lie here, this is an easy blogpost to write. Simply because I loved this place! If you ever plan a trip to Marrakech, you definitely should include this place in your itinerary. OK! So lets get started with this review, so that I can tell you why!

We arranged with the Scarabeo crew that they would pick us up around 10am in our previous Riad. We were having a bit of a problem with withdrawing money from the bank at this point and were very (very!) nervous about it. The reason for this was that you can only pay with cash in the camp. But the kind gentleman/driver told us not to worry about it and took us to a bank outside the city to try again and ensured us that if it didn't work we would find anther way. The stars must have been aligned right that night because everything turned out fine.

We screamed like little girls twice on this one night trip. The first time was when we arrived. We were extremely happy and giggled and screamed at every cute thing we could find. 'Look at this adorable little teapot, look at this, look here,..' The second time was when we found a huge beetle inside our tent. There was no prince charming here to save us as it was a girls trip. But we managed to guide the little fellow outside the front door and into the dessert. We spend one night here to divide our time in Marrakech in two. And I think one night is all you need to discover everything 'Scarabeo Stone dessert camp' has to offer. They offer some additional things to do like • stargazing • camel rides • a massage •quad riding • etc.. but you can do all these things in two days and still have time to wander around a bit. We booked our camel trip in advance and enjoyed it Immensely (*).

Our room/ Glamping tent had a queen-size bed, a living area with a fireplace and cozy Moroccan pillows, closet space to hang our clothes. We had a separate tent with a toilet, shower and a sink with beauty mirror. There was also a sitting area in front of our tent to take shelter from the hot sun. We were amazed how big our place was! They thought about everything and the details were on point. You can charge all your devices in the tent but there is absolutely no WIFI available in the camp. When we came back after dinner the place was tidied up and all the Oil lamps were turned on.

At night we enjoyed a candle lit traditional diner with 3 courses. There was even live music(!!) and a cozy bonfire. We felt like we were on our honeymoon. We both appreciated this being a girls trip but would recommend doing this with your love.

There was no rubbing on magic lamps involved on this trip, but I did feel like princess jasmine from the movie Aladdin while staying in this dessert camp. A downside to all this luxury, the price tag. We paid €500 for a night/for two our lunch, camel ride and transportation included. But for us this was worth it. Also we wouldn't have minded if there was a pool available.

* This is an honest and not sponsored review

* Side note: We were a bit sceptical about riding a camel. We are both firmly against any form of animal abuse and did find it important to do our research in advance. The two camels we were on looked well taken care off and definitely not harmed in any way.
