We found this hidden gem deeply hidden on a travel blog while planning our New-Zealand road trip. When seeing the pictures and video's we just knew that we had to stop here. And YES. the small detour was definitely worth it.
We reached this spot after a short 20 minute hike. Sadly we had no luck with the weather, it was raining all day and a bit cloudy but this didn't stop us to explore the area. We used this as a quick pit stop on our trip but if you have better luck with the weather you can spend the entire day here.
This might sound cliché, but the colours were even more beautiful in real life than on the video! I never saw anything like before.
thinking back to this I almost start laughing at loud again. We found these cute birds that mimicked the sounds we made and they even chased us for a bit! the both of us couldn't stop giggling. When we came back to the car we even saw a mom with 7 or 8 chicks making the same funny noise.
If you would like to check it out: This place is called the Putaruru Blue Spring and can be found on the North-Island of New-Zealand near Waikato. The way up here is the Waithou walkway. Try saying this 5 times fast, funny New-Zealanders with there cool place names.
